I've been playing games for my entire life, and I tend to remember great music from old games. And since they stay in my mind forever, I need to do something about it to ease the pressure on my brain. So I make remixes of them. This one is of one of the melodies used in Blizzards "Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness". One of the more memorable songs ever to come out of a game in my opinion. The original and this has little resemblance though, as I tried to make it my own. The interlude however I tried to recreate as close to the orginal as possible.

"My personal favorite"

date: July 13, 2008

Well, this is by far my favorite song made by you, i play warcraft III alot on LAN, and on battlenet by myself, really nice remix:) nice kinda arpegios (whatever its called) you use, if it is arpergios, maybe you made them yourself, and if you did, nice!...

well you really managed to keep the tune of the game, this reminds me of warcraft, dah its a remix, but its a nice remix which manages to keeps it purpose, to honor the original:) the marching part around 1:40 i think is the coolest part:) great work:)

Author's Response:

Really? This is your favorite? I've always thought this would be the least downloaded ones because of it's strange build-up and melancolic sound. Not you're average dance-tune really. So AWESOME that you like it =)

The arpeggio you mention is not an arpeggio really, it's sequenced manually. It was supposed to be the songs main bass-line, but then it evolved and become a second melody who carried the percussion and backing the bass up instead. And yes, the marching would be my favorite part too ... it was hell to create. The only thing in there which is as close to the original as you get.

So I appreciate the long review, the 10 and the fact that you like it =)

"Great jorb, there, Sky Marshall."

Great synths, (maybe a little less echo volume, but that's me) and great note placements.

Only major gripe that I had with this was that when you put in the original, you didn't re-integrate that with your synths and stuff after the initial play-through... it kinda enetered into a too-high string kinda thing... but on the other hand, if you did re-integrate the original theme into your mix, maybe that would have
made it seem like there was too much going on.

All in all, kudos, for making a great remix of an awesome theme. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep listening for 'ya. 5/5.

Author's Response:

Thanks for a great review man, and the 9 ofcourse :)

It took a lot to get this mashed together, its a LOT of different things going on - so I decided to use the interlude melody as a break before another take-off. I tried to incorporate that melody as it is into the last chorus ... but I dropped it. Instead I slowed down the entire thing from 140bpm to 120 in the interlude and played a little with the orchestra-synths to get it as close to the original as possible. I think it works, but I would've changed a few things if I were to give it another go.

(actually I rushed this song in the end, because my system couldnt handle any more stuff going on at once. Only song that has ever happened with)

Thanks man ... loved the review :)

Next make a remix of th online WoW theme ...it might not be as good though ..i"ll wait and see.

Author's Response:

I've thought about that man, but nope, theres no catchy melody for me to play with in there. But I could always use it as an interlude, and come up with a catchy one for my self. It might happen if Wrath of the Lich King bites me in the ass and gets me hooked on Warcrack again. Thanks for the 10 man :)
