Author Comments

Ok, I learned how to play this on piano by ear, so I remixed it. I'll probably do a version with vocals at some point, hence the (Instrumental) bit. Also, don't judge it on the first few second, that is purposefully hollow. Get at least 12 seconds in.

"Hmmm...."

You started out with a strange synth pluck instrument, then awkwardly stops at 0:08. You came back in with some nice strings, so I thought maybe this will get better. I was extremely disappointed that you only alternate between F minor and B-flat major. It doesn't even seem like a complete chord progression. The actual verses of Mad World have F minor, A-flat major, E-flat major, and then B-flat major. The drum loops were fine, but you put in a tom roll that took me "off balance." You ended with a synth guitar that almost made me cover my ears.
Next time, use more instruments and use variation with each instruments. Maybe have a few friends review it before posting. I'm not trying to discourage you; you just haven't unleashed your full potential yet. Keep making music.
Sorry for being a pain in the butt.

Author's Response:

Well, the version of Mad World I have only uses 2 chords throughout the piece, and I was running on that. I don't remember a tom roll in this, but maybe there is one. I also sincerely regret putting the guitar in there. I learned shortly after this that I am best with an orchestra, and not using instruments such as a guitar.

Just a mildly interesting fact. The weird synth instrument was in fact a harp with a ton of weird effects on it :P

Yeah, I did not like the guitar in this, I don't know why I left it in there, and I have only heard a version of the song with 2 chords throughout, so...

Here ends a long winded reply to a long winded review :P
