HOLY CRAP, IT IS FINALLY FINISHED!

Holy good gravy.

As anyone who's been paying attention to my work will know, I've been planning and creating this mix for about three or four months now. After a long, brutal and frequently-interrupted time of mixing, matching and procrastinating, however, I give you Esperoid: A Tribute to Dancing Mad.

This mix began as a little brainchild. I figured I wanted to do something epic. I really like Dancing Mad - I think it blows everything else out of the water, right from Zeromus to One-Winged Angel (ESPECIALLY One-Winged Angel. Man, I hate that song). So when I started this, my motivation was purely to create something that may but hold a candle to the magnificence of the original. This is, in all ways, shapes and forms, a tribute to the wonderfulness that is Dancing Mad.

So I hope that my mix can live up to it (more of a cover than a mix, really).

Much love to everyone who supported me on the way to creating this, and I hope I fulfilled your expectations!

"Raving Mad-Critique Part 2"

by: CMB007
date: October 14, 2009

Once again, I apologize for posting a zero on your last one, as I didn't want to give out my final score before I did the second part of the critique.

Part 2 of this piece was brilliantly done, as it once again followed all the things that you did well in the last one and blended it into this one as well. The transition of Part 3 and Part 4 was played very nicely, and once again you added many tiny things that actually boosted the intensity of this piece.

Part 3, although short, was brilliantly played. The elec replacing the organ actually fitted the song well, going to near 100% accuracy to the original piece. The guitar also blended with the elec so well, and it didn't blend in with the rest of the harmony either. That was a large plus for me.

I must say though, I am DEEPLY saddened that you didn't put the "DUUUUUUN, DUUUUUN, DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN......DUH-DUUUUUUUUN ! DUH-DUUUUUUUUUN" part of Part 4 into the piece. However, I can also see that since that part would wreck the smooth transitioning that you did so well in this piece. Kefka's laugh was a nice touch in the intro though.

Very VERY intense Part 4 was, the drum took over, but still kept it's place at the same time. It gave it a very panicking feel...as if the great God Kefka was right behind you about to shoot his Light of Judgment at you...

The only thing that irked me a tiny bit was the loud organ sound at 3:13, just because it seemed a bit too loud compared to the rest of the piece. But still it did it's job and kept a very strong melody to the ending bit.

I give this a 10/10, and honestly if I could give out more points I WOULD. I can see that you put a lot of time and effort putting this together, and your results have payed off tremendously. The music blended well, but sometimes too well, leaving bits and pieces confusing to listen to, but still all around it had the same intense feel to it. Tiny little touches and sound effects were added perfectly to harmonize the intensity and slight insanity of the piece. Little bits and parts to clean and polish but still doing a great job.

I actually think that this is one of the hardest and best pieces in the FF franchise to perfect; all the parts give off their own vibe but still need to blend together, which you have mastered. This was the best and probably will be the best Dancing Mad remix on this site, and you sir have my respect for making one of the greatest remixes of music at Newgrounds.

Keep up the great work

Wow.

I have to give you major props, my friend, because you've just given me the best review I've ever received to date. In-depth, riddled with constructive criticisms while at the same time avoiding being overly judgmental... and here I am reviewing your review. Oh my.

If I had the time at this moment to address everything you wrote, rest assured that I would. However, since I don't, let me just thank you for your review, praise and criticism alike, and I hope you'll enjoy the other stuff I have around here!

Cheers and all the best,
-Bitium

"Just as good..."

Just as awesome as Part 1.
This is just great.
And throwing Kefka's laugh in there made it even better.
Ah, nostalgia...

"Cool"

date: June 27, 2009

Wow, this is one of the first happy songs I've really enjoyed. I've never really played FFVI all that much, but this song is cool. The notes were spot on. I like the arpeggiating you have going on there. Good job! I don't really have any suggestions for improvement, unless you can get someone who is godly at guitar playing to play those guitar parts for you. That would make it even more awesome than it is now.

I like the sad-ish part near the end as well. You captured the feeling of the song quite well. Excellent cover/remix/whatever.

It's interesting you'd say that about the "happy" feeling, considering that this song is a final boss theme. But thank you for reviewing!

"HOLY BADASS"

date: June 21, 2009

10/10, 5/5. Get that outta the way. :-D

As with part 1, this was phenomenal! Tier 3 had a bit too "cheery" sounding organ work- reminded me less of an old cathedral and more of a bingo hall, though the bit at the end of Tier 3/ start of Tier 4 made up for it.

Kefka laugh FTW.

Tier 4' the start of the battle portion, seemed a little hesitant. I DL'ed the file just to make sure it wasn't a crappy internet connection, and there was still a sense of hesitancy.

Tier 4, post battle organ: THAT is what a pipe organ oughta sound like! Powerful and deeply sad- awesome! This is my favorite part of Dancing Mad as a whole.

I LOVE the "angelic choir" feel towards the end of this segment, too. Really helps wrap things up, gives a sense of resolution to the whole piece. And to those of us who stayed up for days playing FF3 on SNES, the joy and triumph of winning. :-P

Good work, man.
