This is simply another work that I had been working on for a while. I started this one towards the end of last summer and, as it goes with most of my compositions, I worked on it too much and ran out of ideas and patience, so I let it sit on my hard drive for almost six months before I picked it up again and began to rework it.
While I was working on this I was using a piano soundfont since all of the voice synthesizers I came across sounded pretty awful in general or at least didn't do my composition the justice it deserved. I stumbled across some software that I had downloaded a year ago that I had initially thought I wouldn't ever run correctly, but I fiddled around with it one day and lo-and-behold it worked! It was this synthesizer that really allowed me work on it more creatively than I had been able to before.
So after working hard on it for the last couple of weeks I've decided that this is the best its going to be without having to go back and put in another 20+ hours giving it a complete overhaul. Honestly I would much rather just start from scratch and create another entirely different piece than be stuck with this one for the next month. But perhaps I will eventually rework it in the future and submit an improved version.
Even though I went through high school and college learning instrumental music (I play tuba), I've always had a thing for choral music. There is something about the human voice that cannot be matched by any instrumental ensemble and that there is something spiritual about choral singing that we relate to deep within our souls, even if we can't explain how or why.
I hope you enjoy "Sacred".
