I composed this instrumental for my girlfriend, whom I love so much. It's not much, but it makes me smile when I hear it. Not crazy shredding, no vocals, just something I liked and knew she would too.

Both parts are played on an acoustic guitar, edited with a little effect in garageband.

I hope it gives you a good feeling too.

It's called "Smile."

"this was really nice"

date: August 1, 2008

great 1 minute track
puts you in a good mood.
you said you just played what you felt for the solo, and that's what makes it as great as it is.

"It's ok"

date: April 22, 2008

It's something I would expect to hear in the background on some sappy date movie rather then something I would listen to alone, but kudos for making something for your girlfriend, and congrats for having a clear recording as well.(I have alot of trouble getting clear sound on my guitar and recordings) As far as emotion goes however, it just put me in a bad mood, all these romance things do; the girl I loved died years ago is the reason why. I'm Sorry if that fact biased my review, but I try to give an honest opinion since I'm an aspiring musician myself. Bah, this is better than most of the grunge rock out there nowadays anyway, I'm a better guitarist than most of the people in today's big metal bands, and that's really just pathetic.(yeah, I'm talkin about you guitarist from "disturbed.")
I have one question for you however, I know you're into voice acting and all, but how good are you at guitar, specifically, Sweep Arpeggio. I only ask because I'm legitametly curiouse since I am and have working with those myself for quite a while. If you're any good at those give out a few pointers in your reply if you don't mind.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the comment. Sorry to hear about your loved one. The recording quality could've been better - I used my built in mic on my Macbook Pro. But I now have a Samson CO1UK, an incredible microphone.

I've been playing guitar for a little over 2 years. The first year I played religiously and pretty much did nothing else so I could learn as fast as possible, and now I just play for fun whenever - jam with people and what not. I wouldn't consider myself that great. I can't sweep arpeggio...I think that is some of the sickest stuff, but I definitely can't do it. If you're better than most metal band guitarists, you're definitely out of my league - good luck with your music.

"Nice tune-"

date: March 13, 2008

It's simple, but definitely unenjoyable, and it certainly has an emotional affect to it. I'm not too convinced of the flanger effect - makes it feels like it wants to be psychedelic rock or something, and generally just kind of distracting from the more personal feel of the piece. The recording sounds pretty clear too, which is always a plus, but sounds kind of lacking in the bass - maybe EQ'ing may help?

Author's Response:

Yeah, I could always re-record it with my much better, high quality mic and mess around a little more, but the solo, while minor, was improv and felt, so I feel that if I redid it, it would have less feel to it since I didn't really know the notes I would play before hand, I was just going along with the music. Thanks for the review ;)

also, it was a phaser. I thought it gave a good dreamy, surrounding feel.

Ooh, this is good.
It does make me smile.
Reminds me of Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins.

Author's Response:

weird....why don't I know this song? Thanks a lot man, it makes me happy. It's kinda like my thoughts as music, and it speaks for itself. I know that sounds really hippyish, but really. I tried to put lyrics to it, but I think that would actually hurt the song.
