Author Comments

This is my first time working with full orchestration, this was made as part of a competition on some game forums for a project based around vampires.

Taiko drumming is also something new to me, but I think i'll incorporate it more into future projects, I love the sound of them :).

I kept getting the impression that Myan spear chuckers were hunting down a terrible, terrible beast. You know, until the aliens came and gave them the crystal skull thingy. I tend to agree with Unzippedfate though. It definitely has some spec ops charm.

"Woah! that is kickass"

date: July 19, 2008

I don't really think it would go good for a vampire game, when i heard it i started having visions of covert-ops doing their job in some remote jungle, kicking ass with only a hand full of soldiers with nothing but knives.

Thanks for the review, always appreciated!

I've had a few friends comment that that the taiko drumming reminded them of jungle combat of some sort, or tribal combat. Suppose it could go either way ;).

"That was very nice."

Though the opening was a bit to quiet, and so was the closing.

I could see the Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver style behind some of this music, a good style especially if you are planning to make something with Vampires. The drum and the instrument behind it works perfectly together. The main problem is how the opening and start does last to long.

I enjoyed it overall.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. Glad it at least conjures up images of blood sucking monsters! ;).

The intro and outro are indeed long, they're intended to establish a desolate sounding mood prior to the introduction of the drums. I realize it won't be to a lot of peoples taste, but I like trying to meld soundscapeish ambient sort of stuff into other styles of music. Experimentation is how one learns!

Cheers,
~Daniel
