"Simple, awesome"

date: September 20, 2008

This is a really simple song, but it's still awesome. It's simply awesome! 9/10 because the drums sound just a very small tad bit too loud; I'd say it's between probably 0.5 and 1 dB too loud. It's also roughly 15 seconds too long (the silence at the end).

I'd love to change this song, but alas, I've lost the FLP somewhere :(

In answer to your question play bass guitar, and you'll be able to make music with your guitar, it's not very hard :D

"reviewy winny"

date: March 13, 2008

Liking that bass, reminds me a bit of Unkle 'lonely souls'. Snares too soft, too poppy. it works in a weird way but i think it should be less bright. that lil riff in e is nice, the leady guitar. I have a very similar riff i use on a song i gig with my mate or used too. Second bass on the third phrase nice, understated. adds a lot though. Again those drums just ain't doing this track justice, some lil breakbeats, fills and rolls would help immensly. Or do what i did get ezdrummer.

Vocals would be a nice touch, some hushed ian brown style ones, with plenty of harmonies ahhhhhing away. The track as it stands offers huge potential and is solid as is, doing another run through, that snare needs to change. The kits too weak. deep sub kick to complement the bass and a really hard close snare witha touch of after ring. Cowbell might work and i stress might.

Quality is good, no clipping and a good even level in my speakers, even though there is plenty of bass each part has it's own space, good stuff. Overall it's an 8/10 as i love its darkness and i love the composition. drums need to change though.

Thanks for the review man :D

OK, now to clear some things up. The drums are boring because I wanted the person listening to be attracted to the bass line and not get distracted by the drums, also it's a bass serenade, so I thought the bass should take charge and be the more complex instrument, and for slow songs like these break beats wouldn't fit.

Again, I wouldn't have ever added vocals because I intended this to be a Bass only track, and I don't think there is enough "cover" for vocals. Harmonious vocals may have fit, but again, as the name suggests, its a bass serenade :P

I couldn't change the volume of the kick from, mainly because there is so much bass going on, I had clipping issues.

I'm not ripping into you or being vengeful by the way, I'm merely saying :D

Thanks A LOT for the review :D

"When life gives you sarah, make serenade!"

date: March 12, 2008

yay for sexy friends named sarah. anyway.

I disagree with Joobles. I like the louder guitar at 1:04

probably could've picked up the pace near the end of the second minute, but once the bass re-enters it's not bad pacing.

How is that guitar um, made. Is it you or someone playing, or is it a sondfont or something? it sounds really good.

very nice mix of acoustic rock and ambience.

Fear not, Joobles, I do agree about the fade. in this case it's kind of a cop-out. you don't have any more music, so you fade it. It gets you where you want to be, but in an unsatisfying manner.

I don't hate all fades though... but what you need is some kind of reallly strong repetition. the kind of repetition where every other note the treble voice is playing is the same note. A long riff works well during the bulk of the song, but not for an outro.

The best thing I can think of right now, is having you take the loudest guitar, and have that play the same thing that quiet arping guitar does. with that quieter guitar playing as well.

maybe have the drums fall into a very simple kick-snare-kick-snare repetition. or even just snares and hihats.

It's good, but doesn't feel like a ten.

5/5 still, though.

The intro. was fantastic. Really had me getting into it. I love how the song progresses in that rhythmic manner.

Good stuff, man.
