"the ska song" (jazz version) work in progress

ok this is the first 2 thirds of a jazz version of a ska song i wrote with a bandmate, Mathew Champion.

just a couple of audio tracks so far- what would you do next?

also, how would you edit the audio tracks (eq, ect) to make them sound better?

"Good Musical Idea"

date: March 7, 2008

I like this idea a lot. If you want your guitar tracks to stand out a bit more, you could try putting an equalizer on them. I like the tone they have. If you raise the 800-1000 hz range, it will make them more throaty, but that will give you more of a classical sound. if you want them to have more bite, try a boost in the 2000-4000 hz range. if you're satisfied with their presence, you can always make them sound a little more detailed by boosting the eq above 10k. be careful with eq though. it's easy to ruin a good track... i would know :-) also, i'd love to hear some real gentle jazz drumming with this, like brushes on a ride and snare, with a soft kick, but i'd keep the beat fast, this song has a lot of energy, despite how quiet it is, which is something you don't run into a lot. all in all, though, it's a great track. thanks for submitting it :-)
