This piece was meant to showcase the ability of wusikstation 4 - everything except for drums and a few of the fx are done by wusikstation and the soundsets that came with the latest group buy I picked up. I have to say that although some of the choir patches are out of tune - most everything is absolutely top-notch quality. I think when it all came down to it - I paid $60 for Wusikstation 4, the wusik sample editor, the vst tools, and over 10 gigs of samplesets...which makes a heck of a deal. I'd be hard pressed to find something that was as good a value as that anytime soon.

much appreciated. will do. i do think that it's funny that within two and half days - it's already gotten more downloads than the most popular song I had from last month... weird how that works. anyway.

"Gorgeous!"

It's all well and good about the fact that this program works well for you. But I want to point out another key aspect that makes this piece so beautiful: the composer. I'm not sure if this was put together by playing around and trying things out, or if you had something in mind, but whichever, the result is simply splendid.

When the drums first came in it was nice and mellow, and worked well for the music, but as they hit harder, they stuck out more, but not so much that it detracted a lot.

The chord pattern is repetitive, but since you're still new to the program it seems, I can understand that there's reasons for this. Something about this song makes me want to write lyrics and sing to it. I think this would work well with a vocal line.

Author's Response:

thanks - that's very flattering. i do hope my next song sounds better than this one; I figure I still have a long way to go before feeling like I could match something many of my peers who have a career with this do on a daily basis.

i kind of project that in about 10 years or so - my game will be then up to par with the 'current' productions of the people that I look up to now (people like craig anderton...). Not to say that it would make me famous. Many people live in their shadows would could commandeer just as much respect...

I suppose to say that might seem a little presumptuous - but it works off the idea that with enough time, patience and work - any thought out goal can become realistic. For example - comparing say this piece to one that would have taken me the same amount of time 6 years ago there would be a tremendous difference in the quality of production (and for me - I could explain exactly why this is because I have been through the process of analyzing my songs over and over again and comparing what I could do better each time so that the natural progression of quality over time becomes very obvious...)

If this is all done with the 60 dollar pack you are talking about, i might have to jump on this right away! .. this song is absolutely gorgeous my friend.

Author's Response:

the guy who created wusikstation (being pretty swell) extended the group buy until march 30th...so you've got some time to check it out.

seriously - i am still more impressed by the presets and options i found than by the song itself...

"Sweet mellowness"

date: February 27, 2008

Haven't heard of Wusikstation before, but it sounds like a pretty robust piece of software, and a nice deal too (well, with the group buy at least). Really like the mellow and ethereal feel of this tune, and the little effects that you have in your mix to keep it interesting. The only thing that I didn't enjoy as much are the drums - they sound a bit off for me, both in style and sound. Overall though, awesome piece. Great job!

Author's Response:

funny that you would say that the only thing you don't like is the part that wasn't programmed with wusikstation. yeah - i suppose they do feel out of place. I threw it together pretty quick, wusikstation is really freakin easy to use so it was hard...
