This is one of my favorite songs that we play. Like before, I'm not entirely happy with the mastering, and our upcoming EP should sound much better, because we're going to focus on perfection this time around.

So here's 4AM. The full title is "It's 4 AM (Do You Know Where Your Children Are?)." Not as bad as it sounds. It's just about having fun and staying up late. We all do it.

So please enjoy, and reviews are welcome and encouraged!

Edit: If you want to vote zero, I'd appreciate a review letting me know why. We get plenty of good reviews, and that's great, but we want to improve, so don't be afraid to get ugly!

heres another outside viewpoint

before this song i didn't even know what SKA was.

but i dont think SKA is my genre.
it sounds quite ambient all the time,
and just like the other ppl who reviewed this said : it goes offbeat a lot.
maybe that is SKA, but then i dont like it.

also the vocals aren't smooth.
he doesn't seem to control his voice a lot.

srry i cant give a better review, i wish i could.
so thats why i wont vote to low, im not experienced with SKA.

6/10 3/5
take care,
St0rmChaser

:'( Another potential convert lost.

I don't understand what you mean by offbeat. It all sounds together to me. Are you talking about tempo? There are, admittedly, several tempo issues.

Thanks for the review St0rm, SKA will miss you.

why does my critique matter?

it doesn't. but, if i were your singer, I would SERIOUSLY take singing lessons. I'm not insulting you. I just think you could benefit from vocal lessons, and learning how to control your voice and tone. :)
otherwise...rock and roll???

HyruleanHyroe responds:

That's pretty serious.

Your review seems incongruous with your score. Sorry you didn't enjoy it more. :(

LOVE SKA!

I'm giving you an extra 2 stars for it being Ska xD
Work on clearing up your recording quality for the guitars and horns, and I actually recommend making your vocals LESS clear to compensate... they're a little sharp in comparison, and it makes the rest sound even worse.

Just saying ;) keep up the awesome work!

HyruleanHyroe responds:

I agree with you completely in regqards to relative clarity. The only thing is, we don't have the equipment necessary to get a crisp, clear horn sound. we've tried. we tried extra hard on the new EP, and it helped, but horns still sound fuzzy. It's because we're the only band with horns to record at the studio we use. He just doesn't have the stuff...

Thanks for the review, and you can freaking bet we'll keep it up. Keep it up. Hup hup.

it gets really offbeat alot

not really a fan of ska so i cant really vote it fairly. i also dont kno if ska music is supposed to be offbeat. it was ok. thats all ive really got to say.

HyruleanHyroe responds:

Well, it is supposed to be on the offbeat, but I don't know if that's exactly what you meant. :/

I'm sorry you can't enjoy Ska more, but thanks for at least trying to be objective with your review. We appreciate outside viewpoints. :)

Pretty Cool...

I like the song. I love the trumpets. Sometimes the drums aren't really fast enough, they don't catch up with the guitar 'n' bass sometimes.

And you're right, it takes major guts to sing, I have problems doing so, so really, I tip my hat off to you.

But I will say that your vocals could use some work. However, you're going in the right direction. At least you're getting out there! I totally support you!

HyruleanHyroe responds:

Thanks, October! I'm going to send you along to our newest upload, GTIL, like I have a few others. I'd be interested to see what you think of Brian's 'new and improved' vocals. Thanks so much for the support, we need all we can get! :D
