This is one of my favorite songs that we play. Like before, I'm not entirely happy with the mastering, and our upcoming EP should sound much better, because we're going to focus on perfection this time around.

So here's 4AM. The full title is "It's 4 AM (Do You Know Where Your Children Are?)." Not as bad as it sounds. It's just about having fun and staying up late. We all do it.

So please enjoy, and reviews are welcome and encouraged!

Edit: If you want to vote zero, I'd appreciate a review letting me know why. We get plenty of good reviews, and that's great, but we want to improve, so don't be afraid to get ugly!

Nothing like a fresh convert! Haha!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Ska kid or not, a fan is a fan, and we love you.

really good, but...

Your instrumentals are really good, but you guys really need a new singer.

Well thanks for the review! Being one of the intrumentalists, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy about myself. :)

As for our singer, he's improving, and says that if we find someone better who's a good fit for the band he'd be happy to stop and focus more on his guitar. At least, last time I checked.

nice

Wow, I find it really funny that as I am writing this, it really is 4am where I live!!! Lol
About the song... well it's not exactly my type of music and I haven't listened to ska before but... not bad. Not bad at all. The vocals were kinda weird but the drums, the (trumpet?) were perfect .. Overall a good song. I'm giving you a 4/5

HyruleanHyroe responds:

That's awesome.

4/5 is wonderful coming from anyone, especially a non-ska fan! I'm glad you thought my trumpet part was perfect, and there's a trombone in there, too! :D

Try something new

Ok. But on your next track try dropping the singer and see how it goes. You have a great drummer you should utilize him in the song. I really like the horn but drop on a couple songs over all nice job.

HyruleanHyroe responds:

Thanks for the advice, but I doubt we'll be dropping our singer. He sort of owns all of our equipment, hahaha. :P

Off...

I know its been said, sorry! ^_^

But I'd at least consider getting a new mixing program (or mixer? Professional? You might need it if you wanna go mainstream at some point), a decent one is generally cheap, and some aren't really that hard to pirate *cough* I mean, pick up from the store.

Either way, sounds like a decent song, I know a few guys that would probably put this on their iPod if only the tracks came together better. So, 7 sound alright?

Good luck in the future! Who knows, right?

HyruleanHyroe responds:

Lol, thanks for the advice, but unfortunately, the problem for this one wasn't the software. The guy who handled our recording had never done a Ska band, and had zero experience with recording horns. He was in charge of scheduling our session and everything, too, and he just wasn't as dedicated to the quality of the recording as we had hoped. Plus, there were some miscommunications as far as what our expectations were went.

Thankfully, this time around our singer is handling everything. The software's good, and we've got someone with a personal interest in our success mixing everything, so on the whole it should sound a lot clearer, tighter, and mistake-free. That's why everyone needs a mulligan! Eh? Eeeeeeh?
