Watch the blooming colours travel over the nightsky, mysterious stripes of light being drawn from horizon to horizon over you

I got a beam of inspiration a while ago, and the finished result happened to be this. Dreamy piano, powerful drums, analog sounding bass and soft pads are what makes most of this song what it is. This one is made in Reason only, didn't find a need for Logic in it.

Kicks off at 1:03, but make sure to hear the whole track. Enjoy :)

Small edit, tenth of February: I added some stuff in the intro, a few cymbals around and toms in the last parts.

Words cannot express, hon. Words cannot express. You astound me with your work once again. I don't know how you can come up with this. Dude, I wish you were in my band. Do you know how awesome we would be? Keep making them, please. I love your work. It relaxes me and yet stimulates me all at the same time. I love you! ^.^

I've had the lucky fortune of actually watching the Northern lights. Quite an amazing sight to behold. I grabbed a lawn chair and sat outside in the cool breeze... Good memories... good times.. The name sparked this thought, but the music even plays out as though it was being streamed from the Aurora itself...
I salute your work.

I feel like im in side a really high cathedral - with black walls and stained glass portals brightly illuminated - looking out onto an arctic sky where the northern lights are streaking their feiry blue and green auroras agsainst the starry sky..

th buzzy bass is an interesting addition - if it was a lead or even percussion i might find it annoying right up front but it actually seems to go well as my thoughts seem to project towards the background of my image anyways and are somewhat reflected in my song listening. The piano reminds me of snow falling gently, as do the snowey pads in the background.. I like the whwhwhwh goises on the left and right.. remind me of gently gusting winds.. the window is open and the wind is blowing through, and I feel cold, and something entices me to walk outside, lay on the snowey ground, and gaze up to the immense dome of starlit nothern lit sky, as I let my subconscious drift away as I fall asleep..

Eh, it's nothing spectacular. It's a decent song, and has some nice qualities to it (namely the bass), but it's a little too repetitive for my tastes. It didn't need to be as long as it was, since there were several parts that were just the same. It had a stretched out quality to it.

The entrance was nice, the gradual introduction of all the instruments was definitely a plus.

The piano part was pretty much just the same rhythm of similar notes. But admittedly, I didn't think piano would work for a song like this at all. While you did find one way to get the piano to blend nicely, and it did blend nicely, you used that same part over and over again.

The bass was exceptional, albeit repetitive, great use of the low register. It, as did all the instruments, melded nicely with the overall rhythm. If that makes any sense.

The drums, well, they weren't so hot. While they were used "correctly" as a beat keeper and rhythm conveyor, they just didn't appeal to me.

Overall, it's not a bad song by any means, but it's a song that could have so much more. Repetition isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it just dragged the song down, with all the instruments repeating their parts. I would recommend a couple of sections were the piano kept it's part, and the bass carried the melody.

Author's Response:

awww... I'm not quite sure how to change it to your liking ('cept for the repetitiveness... people are never going to be happy with that).

Thanks for the review!
