My friend Zuzana sang this beautiful ancient Slovakian lullaby. Here's an English translation:

Black eyes, go to bed
Black eyes, go to bed 'cause you have to wake up early in the morning
'Cause you have to wake up early in the morning

Morning, morning, morning
Morning, morning, morning when the sun rises
When the sun rises

The sun is already up
The sun is already up, and my lovely girl isn't coming
And my lovely girl isn't coming

The sun is already up, and my lovely girl isn't coming
My lovely girl isn't coming

Now that I know the lyrics, it seems sadder than before :'(

The Most Beautiful Thing

This seriously brought tears to my eyes. I've never heard anything more pure in my life. I can just imagine a mother or father singing this, mourning the death of a daughter. The lack of imstruments only adds to the meaning of the song. I can truly hear God singing through this woman's voice.

A language for music

The language truly is beautiful to hear in song. I'm fortunate enough to be in Slovakia right now, and the language is so fluid sounding. The language and the country itself are works of art.

Indeed they are - it's quite a poetic language.

Isn't it amazing how really only a voice can reach your soul more then music with instruments go's to show that you don't need to scream or play music load to get your point across. masterful.

I'm from Slovakia as well.

Pretty awesome song. The echo gives it kind of heavenly sound and at times, it almost seems like there's some subtle trumpet in the background.

Rig responds:

You Slovakians are everywhere! D:
