This is an orchestral remake of "Vampire Killer" and "Poison Mind" from the Castlevania series. I've taken a lot of creative liberties with the pieces and I think any Castlevania fan should love it!

This track is from an album I'm working on - it's called 8-bit Philharmonic, and you can check out more music at this link: armonic. It's a project to remake a whole slew of classic 8-bit tunes into great symphonic pieces. Check it out!

Please comment, criticism of all kinds is appreciated! Thanks.

That was a terrific piece. You did a wonderful job and didn't lose that Castlevanian (that a word? <_< ) feel.

Me likey. ^_^

NickPerrin responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah, I tried to keep the Castlevania feel as much as I could. I'm a big fan of the games and the music, which is often some of the best VG music out there. It's also pretty amazing how many times Vampire Killer has been remixed/remade - I think I have about 10-15 different versions on my MP3 player alone, including my own haha. Glad you enjoyed it!

I love this song!

I've never played Castlevania, but I like to try it out, just because of this song. Man, this is addicting!

Really climatic - love it when the bit at 41 secs came in. Really well done. Nice variations on the theme and great development!

I owe just as much to myself as I do to the source material! This track is going to have some slight improvements before it's released on CD, too. Thanks for the review!

I think the beginning is my favourite part too... while the main body of the track is classic Castlevania, the intro is just so intense and reminds me of all those boss fights.. Thanks for the review!

Absolutely Sensational

Incredible! Magnificent synthesis of all parts of the orchestra! I was amazed to hear the brass section in this piece, which is rare in most of these gothic-esque pieces. The use of a choir to emphasize key points in the song would propel this song even more.
Also, around 00:35, I noticed that the lead violin started rather shrilly. If you could mellow that out, the tone of the song becomes much more professional.

NickPerrin responds:

Thanks for the review and advice! This is going on an album as as such is only a draft of what the final product will be, so your tips are going into consideration for the next "draft" of this track.

Speaking of choir, there is indeed choir that kicks in at 3:14, which just emphasizes the main chords of the final section. I agree the use of choir could be done better, and so it will be.

Thanks again!
