A looping overworld theme for a hypothetical video game - This is my first song composed using FL Studio. I really had no clue what I was doing but didn't want to bore myself with a bunch of tutorials right off the bat. This wasn't ever meant to turn into a song, but after playing around with the software for a while, I realized I couldn't just throw away the melody I had created. Two days later and I have a pretty thrilling overworld theme for my video game soundtrack. Unfortunately, I possibly just set my standard a little higher than intended. Having never used synthesized instruments before, I didn't realize how boundless the possibilities are. I hope you enjoy it.

This almost sounds like a Final Fantasy overworld theme done up like Tales of Symphonia's overworld. Very nice work.

Dude this is perfect! This song sounds like its right out of a damn game. your first song on FL? man i wish all my songs sounded this good! you should try taking this and turning it into a trance mix. i bet that would sound bad ass! the sounds just go together so damn well!.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! I live just south of Dayton (Miamisburg) but go to school at the University of Cincinnati. Eventually I may get into trance, depending on... well, depending on a lot of things.

"Sounds overworldy"

That perky beat can't be mistaken for anything but an overworld theme! But you're trying to combine that upbeat music with slower, sadder sections that don't belong at all! Use a different overworld theme for later in the game when everything's FUBAR and the hero has to fix it.. while things are status quo at the beginning just use the happy sections :D Also that very high pitched whine over your notes in the 1st half of the song sounds like sparkle distortion, and you shouldn't really use it in your music, it sounds like there's a problem with my cables. One last suggestion: make it loop better!

Author's Response:

First of all, I always read people's comments over and over to improve my composing, so thanks. However, I knew I wanted the more ambient middle section when I started composing and think it's an important component of the overall feel I was going for. I'm not getting the high-pitched whine with these headphones, but I definitely should check it out. I wouldn't want a song like this to fall apart because of a missed mistake like that.
