Hey hey. This is the first piece that I get to submit that I get to have one of these comment thingers. So I'm gonna damn well enjoy it :D

I wrote this piece completely by impulse. I've been listening to a lot of different drum 'n bass recently; to dirty Noisia and Apex tracks, some ambient Drum 'n bass songs, and a lot of hardcore (ol' skool Amen) and jazzy Drum n' bass... I didn't feel the need to add the Amen break in this song.

So this is the product of what Zenon thinks of when he thinks of a song that you, the avid drum 'n bass listener (hopefully) would enjoy. I tried to find a snare and kick sample that were short and sounded deep and thick, but in reality were a few hertz above what the sub bass would play. I'm not quite happy with the samples (I never am) but hell... I spent enough time worrying about it to complain.

The trumpet addition was completely random. I just found them and said "Well, let's try it out. See how it sounds". That particular part sounded really, really empty with just that weak, high pitched 303-esque type instrument that I had. I don't know why I put it in there in the first place, but after I put it in (and as awkward as it sounds) I felt that it fit. Even though I know it doesn't, it just feels right. But it doesn't. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

And I'm terribly sorry about the length. I was cut short for ideas and as much as I love drum 'n bass... the only thing I can't stand is the constant repetition of parts that have already been repeating themselves for 3 or 4 minutes with only slight variations. Any longer than 2 minutes with this song would have killed the feel (to me) so right under 2 made my heart glad.

I hope you all enjoy the piece. Keep it easy NG;

-Zenon

Yeah good song and all but your reeces... now I'm not one to insult you, seeing as I'm a n00b compared to you, but your reeces sound like filtered noised. With pitches. Sorry :| Try to make a Noisia-type gritty bass in your next DnB. I don't think I've ever heard a gritty bass in your songs. I'm sure you can pull it off.
