"Really great!"

by: Sialys
date: March 27, 2008

Really touching song, I'm sure she enjoyed it. And the amount of work is definitely obvious here, sounds great, really terrific.
I would drop some of the effects on that guitar and try layering another over it, it works wonders. Either way it sounds great though.

Pro: Music is fantastic, the lyrics are great, professional quality with a few minor flaws here and there.
Cons: Work on your voice a little bit, you like to drop your words out of nowhere, enunciate and your a bit monotone.. The lead guitar has too many effects on it, try dropping 'em and try layering.

Don't worry about what's wrong though man, either way it sounds great. Keep it up!

Hey thanks for the review! ^_^

Layering... hmm... I'll try just that. Thanks again! I hope the newer mic (got a Sennheiser e840 to replace my cheap US$10 mic) will change vocal quality. Been practicing lately, too.

Thanks again!

"beautiful"

date: January 25, 2008

the quality work was evident immediately. i can spot talent in seconds when it's this obvious. you definitely need a new mic and pre amp combo for your voice. what are you using: the siblants are terrible and clarity is really sub-par and colored (not in a good tube way). the double tracking at parts is a great effect. I would definitely go for something like an rode NTK or better...that would make a world of difference. you're worth that kind of investment my friend. drums and guitar on the other hand are very very well mixed. transparent and non-resonant.

honestly, do yourself the favor and upgrade the equipment where it counts...i could see you really really doing well...do you have a label?

Author's Response:

Thanks for the honest opinion. ^_^

Well... Reason is doing a good job with the instruments and effects, so only upgrade there would be a real instrument set.

As for the vocals, yup, I got myself a new mic. I'm still thinking about the pre-amp, though (since I plug my mic directly to the mic input of my laptop).

Nah, no label. Wish I had one, though.

Thanks again for the ten review! ^_^

"Very well composed demo"

date: January 4, 2008

I thought it was very well done for a demo. However, I see that you have intentions of releasing an album? Not to sound discouraging, but I'd suggest slightly better production (an audio engineer of reputable credibility) as far as recording and engineering goes. As I mentioned before, it sounds great for a demo, but to get the full impact of a song, you're gonna want someone with 5+ years experience to assist you.

This is applicable especially for album production. A musician may have great aspirations in mind when composing a piece, but without the proper mixing and mastering handling, it will still remain amongst its demo brethren.

But anyway yeah, great work. Good pan work, and interesting use of subtle verbage.

Author's Response:

Yup, I'm very aware of it. Mixing and mastering is, cutting the sugar, not pro-quality. I'm still studying how to get the full sound out.

I've also upgraded my mic, so that may help the clarity of the vocals.

Again, thanks for the review! Will keep in touch with you once the new set of recordings are out. ^_^
