Late night, was feelin' the need to draw some sort of face after watching some videos on youtube, speedpaints and whatnot. Went for more of a traditional style of painting and I did this without a reference... I don't really like using them even though I probably should use them more often.

I kind of took a different approach at this style by starting with about a (10px?) brush and then slowly got the shape and position and then went from a bigger brush to about a 5px, then some slight crosshatch shading to get where i wanted the shadows and lightsource, and then went from bigger and smaller brush sizes all the way through by going over the base layer.

She does have a fierce face and very physically toned, especially around the jaw and cheekbone areas... but after all, she is an amazon. :P

Also I figured if im going to "paint", i might as well stick with grayscale. I hear it's better to start that way.

Headgear is tilted wrong...

Don't you like how after one person says something corrective everyone else also says something about that specific thing.

Swell

Looks like you have faces down pretty well. I would say you don't really need to use references for faces unless you were trying to make it look like someone specific. But that is just my opinion if you feel like you should use them more go for it.

Beautiful picture :)

Wow I love the detail in this! It's great. She looks slightly cross-eyed to me though..

hey now

This is very nice. Her headgears a bit crooked don't know if thats intentional or not but your value scale is very nice. she got dat big hair mmm
