Did you ever see "Teeth" ?
I haven't seen it either, but that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this. The film kinda has the same premise you've got going here. It's very well drawn, and has a certain creep factor to it. Definitely wouldn't be putting my fishing rod anywhere near that thing. =/
