"Iris was abandoned in the forest left to train until strong enough to become the eighth gym leader. Unfortunately, her are either too weak to battle or too powerful to obey her. With no hope of advancing she is left to fend for herself, living in the trees and surviving on wild berries, indefinitely, or until Ash Ketchum and friends take her along with them for a much less lonely adventure."

Brilliant. Only thing that's off is her right lower leg. Looks like her knee was snapped out of position and impossibly twisted.
