The People Have Spoken
Average Score: 7.2 / 10
Well it looks like it was fun to have drawn, but there are some issues going on here.
The sand is kind of bland and lacks fine detail to it. The coconuts are oddly shaped and remind me of those madness guys from the madness day thing.
The tree is too erect and not shaded very much, and the leafs on the tree are all connected and don't really look like a coconut tree leafs.
The thing you've got going for you that's done pretty good is the shine effect going on.
Just keep on working on it, it could turn out alright. =3

This is a nice piece, IMO. Maybe I'm the odd one out from all the other reviewers, but this is a really good picture, even though it's from years ago.
The colours are great. Overall, they are a little bright, but they gave that sort of cartoony theme to the picture, which I quite liked. The lighting, as I said in the summary, is just amazing, and as Haggard said, it was realistic and unrealistic at the same time. Doesn't look exactly like the sun (you can check how the sun looks like on a telescope and try and copy it. Lol, joking, DON'T do that :P) but it's clear you put a large amount of work on it, with amazing light effects.
The concept isn't too original (a palm tree in a desert...) but you added your own theme to it, giving it a sort of uniqueness. If I had to fix anything in this piece, though, I'd make the palm tree in the middle of the picture, right in front of the sun. It'd make it look more like the centre of attention and make it look more majestic.
Regarding the palm tree itself, it doesn't look too realistic, but that's what I liked about this picture. It has its own cartoony feel instead of imitating an actual palm tree. If you'd wanted to copy a real palm tree, you'd make it bent, you'd make the trunk thinner, you'd put some coconuts on the tree, you'd make the leaves look more like leaves and less like green paper which was scribbled on, and you'd make the tree grow more naturally from the ground, but you gave it its own theme.
This does need a background. An ocean, some birds in the sky, clouds, some sailing boats far away, etc.. right now the background is just a bland void of blue, with rays of light coming from the sun.
Anyway, it's definitely a good picture, and very impressive, even though you made it years ago. It shows that if you make some art right now, you'd excel ;). Keep up the awesome work.

Scouted.

I think that there could have been a few minor changes to make this piece look a lot better. The addition of an ocean to the background would have completed the trifecta of sun, sea and sand. Perhaps changing the colour and / or the position of the sun would work wonders as well.
There is no shading, which is a big disappointment, to be frank. You need to have shadows in there, to add a certain degree of realism to pieces like this. The same could be said for indentations in the sand, where coconuts have fallen from the tree - they would not necessarily land perfectly 'tuft up' and some would roll a little way from the tree, it's how they spread over time, as trees.
I know that it's from back in 2006, but sit down and give it another go, I'd love to see what you can come up with :)

I like the lightening of the sun pretty much. Looks realistic and unrealistic at the same time, heh.
I think the palm tree should bend a little more to a side as it's rare for palm trees to shoot straight up. Or maybe that's just because every palm tree I see on a picture or in a movie is bend, heh.
Also, the objects need some shadows. The sun is shining and no cloud is obscuring it, so the objects on the ground should have shadows.
In addition to that I think the objects in front of the sun should be a bit blurred, or rather outshone by the sun.
Overall it's a nice picture with good colours, but it needs some more works on the details.

The backround was kind of weird since there is now water near but that's just plain imagination. Also the palm tree trunk is a little too fat. Also the coconuts are kind of fat aand some should still be on the tree.
Ahh, finding a palm tree in the middle od the desert, that's creative. Also, 2006 isn't that long ago, that's only three years ago which iss why the quality on you pictures is bad.
Also, what did you use to make this? Some computer tool or by hand. Also you should make NEW art because you are probably better at it now. I also noticed in your pictures, you put a lot of shine in it.
Anyways, here is the overall score:
Effects 10/10
Creativity 10/10
Originality 8/10
Overall Effort 7/10
So Like I said: make NEW art.
