I'm not much of an artist, but I'd say I'm quite patient. So with a couple of reference pictures, and a whole gradient of red, I tried to draw a realistic looking apple. Took quite a while in MS paint, but I'm happy with it. :3

Specially when i read you made this form scratch on Ms Paint i went like "Whoa this guy has talent". certainly, saving it as a JPEG format not only killed the details with lots of undesirable artifacts and poor image compresion but also with thefact that i am still wondering how you managed to, in MSpaint- select and apply over 3.4k colors using only a simple red/white gradient. not saying that this is nowhere near being pixel art(or that doing stuff on MS paint doesnt turn it Pixel Art automatically neither, even when doing stuff on pixel art doesnt turn it Pixel Art automatically). but i'd reccomend that you either upload another version in a GIF/PNG format since they are well known for they quality-loss result when working pixel art images.

"This is really REALLY nice"

After looking at the (currently) seven pages of pixel art, I have to say yours is up there for great art! I could tell when I saw it that it wasn't the real deal, but the coloring and the lighting, the shading, everything is perfect! There's not too many works of art like this (yet). I've seen a few on here where I was surprised they made it on the computer, but yours is strictly an apple, basically one color. I would say for advice, next time, you should sign this. It wouldn't be great sharing this if this were stolen, especially since this apple just looks . . . too good . . . and I'm currently hungry . . . ^.^;;

Author's Response:

Haha, I'm not a serious artist, so I have doubts that anyone would steal something like this... it's just an apple. Thanks for your comments.

"I'm impressed."

At first I thought that this was just a spam submission of a copied and pasted google image, but when I saw that you made it yourself from scratch, I was surprised. My jaw nearly hit the floor when I got to the MS paint part of the description. This is amazing, it looks as life-like as a photograph. But, there is one thing that I don't really like; the shape of the apple. The bottom of the apple should have some kind of impression in it, and the oval-ish shape of the apple just doesn't seem right to me.

Overall: This is truly amazing, but not perfect. If you make another sort of fruit in MS paint, or make an improved apple, spend a little more time on the shape/outline of the drawing.

An attempt at realism and a good one at that! I love how the peel comes out of the top, the shading there is great. Also the lighting looks very nice and realistic. But most of all I like its shape. It really brings this image alive. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the dark outlining. And I think you should have added a bit of shading underneath the apple to finish the image, but that's about it (:
Great job at ms paint.

Author's Response:

Thanks Whirlguy. When I said I'm quite patient, I must say that there's a point where I have to draw the line somewhere. I think some shading would have been nice, but then I'd be trying to draw a background for it, and adding all sorts of other details. I figured "I'll leave it hanging in white nothingness for now". You're better at that stuff than me. :)
