The IDW MLP #11 and 12 comics are so far my top favorite arc. Being a kid in the 80's I remember some of that stuff. I decided to draw something "80's" that wasn't touched on in the comic: Hanging out at the mall. In this case we've got Cadance and several others from the comic.
After 3 weeks of nights, I finally finished the digital version of my drawing. Made several changes to it including changing a few background characters.
The store signs are graphics I made, then pasted onto the drawing (Goodmare, Units, and the arcade are fonts I have on my computer. The rest I worked from photos of the real ones).
Some of the details in the Hay Bee toy store are images I worked in, the rest are "cartoon" versions of actual boxes. Likewise with the album covers (Van Haylen, and Quarterhorse, which I previously uploaded: lonewolf3878.deviantart.com/ar… ).
The floor was a complete B**** to make. I made it as a seperate layer, then pasted the rest of the drawing on top of it. I made a flat "grid", then used Gimp to (try and) change the perspective of it. And don't get me started on the damn ceiling tiles.

The ponies at the mall I really like how you made this very colorful and bring in some awesome little details of the mall like the second floor but all the colors with ponies was nice and you did a fantastic job on this and was very creative so awesome job indeed

wow, you did really good here, its actually amazing that someone thought to put cadence in her younger years!!
This is rather nicely done. Seeing a younger but mature Cadence and Moondancer from the 80s incarnation of the show is pretty cool. I can imagine the mall having a calm soundtrack to it while hearing a lot of ponies talking in a low voice so they can hear each other.
