Growing Family

Share

Lush hills appear throughout the arid planes, fairy mounds as they have been titled. Minnie oasis’s, teaming with grasses and foliage. These hills are the byproduct of an Arid worm taking up occupancy. These massive subterranean dwellers become immobile and sedate once reaching maturity. Their bodies will secrete and enrich the parched soil around them giving nutrient and vital enzymes to budding flora. In return the now revitalized flora will transfer energy back to the worm, their root systems linking to their hosts body. This symbiotic relationship also attracts wildlife to the fairy mounds further supplying an alternate and substantial food source to the worm and pollinators for the flora. Completely hidden only its mouth breaks the surface. Its proboscis will emulate the texture and color of the prevailing specie of flora around them. The planes are littered with these fairy mounds but large distances of territory separate them making these fairy mounds little islands of distinct mutations of the organisms. Whole familial generations have been linked to specific mounds. If the worm dies its body will continue to produce and nourish the wildlife and flora for years to come.

This Yin Fann breeding pair is taking roost on a newly formed fairy mound. Here they will reap the benefits of an up and coming “neighborhood” and will raise their family as the mound begins to flourish.

Not only it looks great but the environmental design, the way it interacts with other species, and how it goes through different phases as it grows is all proof of great character design.
And i wonder what that shadow flying on the background could be?
