Sigh, I don't even care anymore, I mean, I love this piece but people don't even look at my art anymore, doesn't matter what I do or how much I improve, everything is just gone and everyone I know is surpassing me. Every time I try to talk about this with people they just say stupid shit like "You're doing art for yourself, to express yourself" and yada yada yada shit.
But no, I am an artist, I rely on people to view and critique and hopefully enjoy viewing my art and when I see everyone else getting overwhelming feedback, making friends and everything whilst I just sit here pouring my heart out without a single response, it hurts, it's discouraging and most of every day I'm on the verge of tears with how lonely and neglected I feel.
But whatever that's just my depressing life. Enjoy this thing I spent the last two days trying to get looking nice enough for people to maybe get a smile out of.
Also it was inspired by PapayaKitty's style.
The colors in this are wonderful and you did a great job imitating the background style in SU too. I was very drawn to this thumbnail!
However, I do have a few things to say beyond that after reading your description. The worst thing you can do to yourself is compare yourself to other people. The reality is, there will always be people better than you at anything no matter what you do. The important thing is to focus on continuing to improve YOURSELF. Which you said you think you have. That is the important thing. I know so many artists and animators that focus way too much on popularity and politics and not enough on just getting better and end up becoming stagnant and give up. Don't give up. Just because someone's art is more popular never means it is better. Remember that <3
Nice rimlight, background looks spot on ,amethist look extra fat and pearl is def holding garnet's boob
composition is nice,colors are really fakin good,as for your description-
some times you gotta draw for you and pretend no one will ever see it , that's the only way for me, since I know i won't ever be one of these tumblr/da stars that gets a ton of praise for posting anything
I've observed everything you've posted, although I never leave a comment because I don't usually have much to say about it. Always looks killer to me. About this piece for example, I have absolutely no interest in that show, I'm sure it's a cool show but I don't care. Anyway this piece looks great.
Also I think I already contacted you about this, but I'd love to be a VA for you if you ever need one for an animation.
I don't know what to tell you, I'm not much of a critique but, i can tell you that i really enjoy your art. It's true i haven't reviewed all that often or at all like most people but, just never doubt people stop viewing your art folks come and go, they might not be the same everyday and erh... I'm really bad at giving advice and stuff.
