Triumphant from Battle V2

Share

Yesterday I uploaded a very personal sketch, which was based on a visual picture I had. Today, here it is in its fully-coloured glory. Precis of the description from DeviantArt:

"Shortly after playing the bodhran I lifted the beater to the sky, vowing that each beat would be in Our Lord's honour. And then, this picture came to my mind: I yearned to greet Him, dancing and beating that drum, as He returned triumphant from battle."

It's not the best sketch there is, but I hope it gives some solace to at least a few. It certainly did give me joy. ^_^

A very bright piece of artwork that indeed radiates triumph and glory. I admire how you've coloured the entirety of the piece and how you've achieved the glow emanating from the bodhran-wielding angel's halo as well. Charming and uplifting.
Also, I have just spotted 'Christus Vincit' written into the sky of the piece and I remember that being a recurring lyric in 'Amor Vincit Omnia' by yourself. I think it's great to see that you have a good eye for art and a great ear for music production as well. Keep it up, Troisnyx!

Troisnyx responds:

Thanks -- I'm glad... ^_^

The bodhrán-wielding person is not an angel (and in Christian iconography, angels are genderless, spiritual beings) -- she's a saint! One who has lived a life pleasing to Our Lord, and now waits on Him with delight. I still haven't gotten the hang of drawing genderless figures, so that's going to be something worth trying out in future.

As for the words Christus Vincit.... Christus Vincit is a chant and a prayer in and of itself; I used it as a throwback in Amor Vincit Omnia. I used it for its literal Latin meaning, here in this sketch. <3

personal quest

Troisnyx responds:

Personal drawing it is, but.... you could say a little much more in the review than that.

Very good sketch, especially for one done in one hour!

If I had anything to say, and that's something I find in a lot of your work, it's that your legs seem MUCH larger than any other part of your bodies, often taking up over 50% of the body's size. they's proportionate width-wise to the rest of the legs, though, so if you adjust the height, I think it should work fine.

Sinon, bravo, un autre excellent dessin, on sent bien ta foi à travers ceci! ^^

Troisnyx responds:

NOTE TO ALL OTHER REVIEWERS: This was a glitch because Camoshark used accents in his review. He's since told me what he's thought. : )

It's very nice Nyx, I think both versions are great, and the sketch has that unrefined charm

Troisnyx responds:

Eh, thanks : ) This one, I'll admit, looks slightly unrefined, because all those lines on the grass are essentially the orange lines from the original sketch that I erased. Still glad you liked it!
