Savo(u)ring the Start

Minus subtitle, this is the upcoming cover art of Savouring the Start, the first dramatic anthology coming to you from the Writers of Newgrounds!

Considering there are many gothic, supernatural and horror elements in the anthology thus far, I've taken to drawing.... well, this. Bonus points for anyone who understands Latin, Spanish and French... the significance would be doubled.

Sketchbook Express.

EDIT 21 SEP 2014 @ 21:01: The anthology can now be purchased here:

I favo(u)r this piece.

Youpi! Tout le monde au cimetière!

Not sure what you mean with "minus subtitle", so my comment below might not apply
- imho, the title and signature clash too much with the rest, just a little too bright.
I'd like to see them blending more (like a watermark but not fading as much as the background shadows, but not RGB 255-255-255 colgate pure white either, to keep the mysterious and dramatic feeling)-

Otherwise, it's a nice little cemetery i totally wouldn't want to visit at night :D
I'm sure it's haunted by ghosts of newgrounders.

The stone material looks like a clever use of filter. Or maybe a custom brush? Anyway it's pretty convincing and fits with the drawing style.

SuperUltra nitpicking:
- The right side of the crack on the "in loving memory" tombstone should be thicker according to perspective)
- The wooden cross in the should be visible in the gap beewteen the tombstones, a line seems to be missing, or maybe... it's floating in the air and.... AHHHHH!

Troisnyx responds:

Minus subtitle meant that the cover was lacking its subtitle: "The First Dramatic Anthology from the Writers of Newgrounds," which @Tremax was going to do in simple font. Sketchbook Express, to my knowledge, has no font input.

The stone was indeed a filter. On that note, the filter did also render the signature into #FFFFFF when it should have been something along the lines of #B0B0B0 -- really couldn't help it there.....

Point taken about the cracks. Also, the cross which seems to be "floating in the air" actually has its stem jutting out from behind the gravestones, but it's not evident. Although floating in the air might be a good effect for it...^_-
