How do you achieve such fine, grainy skin textures?

Hot damn, this is some very nice work. Planning on making the whole character, or head only?

About how long does it take to make these masterpieces? And how do you come up with your ideas? Or do you just play with it until you come up with something you like? Just curious, keep up the awesome work man!

1-4 hours usually. No idea, just work with the 'clay' until i find shapes I like or explore ideas from my sketchbook really. :D
