Candle of Life

Share

Uhm. My inspiration was a candle that represents our life( kinda weird). So, I tried to make a flame with shading but I couldn't do a stick well, so I made the flame "floating" on a yellow-black liquid, that represents our life(joyful(yellow) and sad(black)).
So, enjoy.

A little large

Not a bad image, but the main problem is that when you click full size, it really does become huge - kind of showing the size of the image that you should have been working on at around 200-300% zoom, to improve the detail level when it comes back down to a normal size.

It looks a little abstract and would certainly be helped by the addition of a higher level of detail and perhaps a few more different shades of the greens and reds.

Sharpening up the focus would help, as I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be seeing here...

Nice colours

That's why I don't like abstract art, I can never see what the artist intended to show me. -.-

However, the colours are pretty nice, but like Insanimation said, it's too divided. When viewed in full size it's almost as if there was a straight line dividing the top from the bottom half. I think the picture would work better if the areas where more "mixed up".

Nothing special.

Well...there really isn't much about this that makes it appealing.

Whilst art can be used to express ideas, feelings, etc., the most important thing is that it is aesthetically pleasing. This piece, to me at least, falls at the first hurdle.

I feel it is a bit too divided. It might have been nice to put a bit of red in the green areas, just to mix it up a bit.

Whilst it is abstract, I think it seems too randomly placed to look good. It just looks like you just put shapes anywhere, as opposed to choose the position and shape of them...For example, there is too much negative space in the top left corner.

As for colour, I feel that a more yellow would have been better, as this looks more like lime green than yellow.

It just doesn't do it for me, sorry.

Ah, abstract art... the thing that I tend not to be able to tell what it means or what it is. Such as I would have never guessed this was a candle if it wasn't for the title of this submission.

I guess because I'm not a big fan of abstract art that I think the flame should be moved over to the left just a tad bit to make it more centered. Not saying to get rid of the wave in it though as that does make it look pretty cool, but just to balance the picture out a tad bit.

I would have liked to see just a bit more of the shades of red in the black that you had in the upper part of the picture to really bring out the black. The mixture of green and black looked rather good though. When the green and black were smudged together I took it as taking the good times with the bad times and realizing that something good will probably come from the bad.

Very well executed

Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Very well executed
Review: It could've gone horribly wrong, but I really like the way you did this. My guess is that a lot of people would just see colors, but this was really soothing towards my eyes. Relaxing, of sorts.

The color combination is great, and it really brings out the fire. It's grungy (or something like that), while clean. It perfectly represents the not-so-perfect life every human lives.

I'll have to complain about something, so I'll say that I'd like the flame to look more like a... well, flame. I'd also have to agree that there might be a little too little in the actual piece, but I guess it's minimalistic abstract art, eh?
