You know... It was never part of a story or the finish line of a race. The End was... something else.
We've all seen what it can do, yet very few know what it looks like or when it will come.
I think... I met it once- when I was a child. I was sick and had been taken to the hospital- it was a long time ago...
Late at night, the door to my room had been opened, the hall's dim light leaked it. I remember it was hard to see without my glasses, but I knew it was the End. It had come for me.
I laid there and waited as it approached, but oddly enough it just stared at me with it's hollow eyes. After what felt like a life time, it moved closer and simply pulled my blanket up before turning around and walked back out the door.
I am 93 years old now, and it watches me from the other room. I am certain this time, I will go with it. I can't help but smile and greet it like an old friend...
You see, the End comes for us all, as scary as it is, it's never anything to fear...
a short story and old speed paint I had done.
