Migration

Share

"The little gold dragon whelp barked as it caught a small critter on the field after a long chase. He wasn't hungry himself though as he anticipated the migration to happen any moment now, occasionally peering off into the distance into the massive canyon. Every decade around this time of the year the golden dragons swarm in large flocks, migrating to the unknown lands in the north, never to be seen again. The whelp finished its meager meal and leaped onto his shoulder, anticipating having the under of its neck scratched. As he continued to peer off to the distance he lightly scratched its neck as it growled, within a few years it would have to participate in the migration too. Then he could see a glint of gold swoop into the canyon, he squinted his eyes and sure enough it was the first gold dragon that would lead the migration. With almost blinding speed the dragon flew right above his head, sending powerful gusts of wind that almost swept him and the small whelp away. The small whelp perhaps would have let out mighty roars if it were older, but they came out more like the barks of a small dog as more of its kind began to flood the valley. Mesmerizing golden figures swooping through the skies, the sun reflecting off of their golden scales in glorious incandescence unlike anything else. The small whelp tried to spread its wings and fly with them, but it was all too small to fly with its much older kin and the gusts of wind created by their massive wings promptly sent it spiraling in the air and onto the ground. Nassos, the 3rd heavenly body began to already appear in the sky. Once it would cover the sun behind it the migration would be over, as the land would be momentarily cast into darkness, perhaps this was the lands way of mourning the loss of its most brightest and noble creatures. The golden sheen of the swarm of dragons could still be seen from miles away, all the while until Nassos would block out the last of the suns rays. The small whelp continued to flap its wings and bark until Nassos had completely consumed all of the suns light, after which it stopped and lowered its head before sitting back on its companions shoulder."

I'm loving the little narratives you add with some of the artwork you have been whipping out recently! This piece is a nice change of pace compared to some of the darker subjects you have been portraying recently and I must say you did an excellent job! The different golden dragons along with the pillars, ground, and ocean help to give an excellent view of the depth of the image. It's also nice to see just how big the dragons are when comparing their proportionality to the figure by the pillar.

With all of your short stories combined with your artwork, it'd be nice to see you do something like a short comic or something. Fantastic work again!

Thanks a dozen CloakedSoup! I am sometimes too lazy to write up a narrative to go with the drawings I do, but hearing people enjoy them makes it all worth it.

Hmm, perhaps, I am usually too lazy to stick to a single personal project for too long, but maybe if people want to see it I could make one someday!

Love the story that goes along with this beautiful art!

Thanks a bunch, BluMiu :)
