Another piece for art class.
Alongside making a practical are piece, we are to make an visual art diary with a focus of our choice.
Choosing social commentary, I basically based my art piece around the topic of shame and vulnerability. Pretty much people hide themselves and conform as they are shameful of who they are. By conforming, they may as well not exist as they are being who they aren't., thus never experiencing true happiness, To be truly happy, we need to expose ourselves to the public and say 'This is who I am.' (hypothetically anyway).
By being vulnerable, we get exposed to both negative and positive judgement, however people tend to put more weight on the negatives more so than the positives, leading to them just closing up literally hiding under a facade. We need to express who we are, what we do and love to be happy. We are vulnerable when we showcase our art, ask someone out and express an opinion. To take the leap with no true guarantees and have a go even if it does go wrong.
