Delusions of Grandeur

Share

Created for an exam, but one of my most rushed paintings ever. Idea came from a Dream Theater movement from Six Degrees. If you know it well enough, maybe you can guess what bit this is.

--EDIT

Front page?! Wow! Thanks whoever was responsible for that! That was the motivation I needed to get my arse into gear and produce another painting!

Yeah I know. But it was rushed to death. I painted this monster in 15 hours, and its quite a large painting! I have been trying to take my time oevr my paintings lately, I know its a weak spot!

nicely done, one of the best work I've seen.

Yeah.

I think we all have delusions of grandeur at some point. This was really awesome, especially the contrast between the vivid colors and the bland black and white.Keep up the good work.

Beautiful comparison

Such a powerful alternation between simplicity and vibrancy, and one that I can relate to to a certain extent. I often find myself stuck inside my own head, powerfully tapping at my knees as if it were my piano.

The transition of location I feel would be hard to explain, yet you seem to have done it flawlessly.

Great work.

Fantastic Imagery

Great symbolism. A dark and deep story interwoven into a single piece. Excellent art. I love that the dual sides are done in different styles. Makes the story come out at you that much more and makes a lot of sense considering the man's condition. The psychedelic style and coloring works really well, too. Even the "normal" or "real" side is good. It's so plain and clinical while the other side is so jumbled and almost angry.

Even if someone didn't know the story and interpreted it differently, the story would still be a good one and the piece would be thought provoking. It's just so full of emotion and information.

PS Dream Theater is a great band. Progressive rock/metal gods. I'm not a personal who is always in to such super-technical music (it can get so masturbatory and emotionless), but they make it work really well.
