Good on the Dancefloor

Trish took a look at her watch. It was 11:30 and the club was already in full-swing. The music pounded over the speakers and people mulled past each other, packed in like a school of fish but this was far less graceful. From the bar, she could pick out individual people trying to weave their way through the crowd, trying to reach a friend, meet somebody new, or as was always the most entertaining, get away from somebody. From the way people bounced in the crowd, Trish could only guess that they were playing some kind of hip-hop song. All the better that Trish always brought her DJ-Headphones. Noise cancellation killed just about everything except for the bass-line and she was free to pick through her selection of CDs that she kept on both hips.

Linda was late. Trish was unsure if she was going to come at all tonight since her other friend, Tia canceled on her. However, her opportunities to see Linda were unfortunately few and she didn't want to miss the opportunity. Besides, Linda had made promises of an outfit that was, as she so elusively described, heavenly. So Trish sat at the bar, her headphones on, glancing around for any heavenly foxes among the crowd. Merely the fact that Linda was a red fox anthro was enough to set her apart in this crowd. Most every person she laid eyes on was human, their bare skin glistening in the shinning lights.

As she leaned back to take another look through the crowd, her gaze was suddenly blocked by a broad, muscular chest in a tight, black t-shirt. It was attached to a man with a tan that could only be acquired from years of skulking around the beach. His head, even his eyebrows were shaven and from the way he presented himself, he was clearly proud of his meticulously toned physique. His eyes met Trish's and his lips started to move. Trish couldn't hear him over her own music, but she could make out the words, 'Looking for someone?' A weak way to start a conversation, but she had heard worse. She wasn't much in the mood for this tonight anyway. She grabbed the shot glass which she had been saving for Linda's arrival and pounded it quickly. Then, without even recognizing the man, she got up and worked her way out into the crowd. If nothing else, she might as well do SOME dancing, even if it was alone.

Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw a flutter of red fluff among the tightly-packed people. She pulled the headphones off from her ears and she was suddenly assaulted with the pounding bass-line of a high-energy techno song. As the speakers blared through the club, she heard a feral cry of excitement that could only come from one person. Trish pushed her way quickly through the crowd, elbowing some particularly stubborn men as she drew near. After one particularly rough push, Trish was surprised to find the crowd suddenly ended and she stumbled into an empty circle. There in the center was Linda, wearing a tiny white skirt and tied shirt that could only be described as heavenly. She danced in a smooth, flowing way as her tail gracefully followed behind, the spectators standing back in awe. They almost reeled back when Trish burst into the circle, offering a presence that was anything but heavenly. Linda immediately noticed Trish and twirled over to her.

"Trish! There you are! I was waiting all night for you!" Linda's fur was already damp with sweat.

"I could say the same thing about you, Linda. I was over at the bar. Have you been dancing this whole time?"

"If you're wondering if I'm done yet, I'm just getting started." Linda seductively stepped back from Trish, motioning with a finger to follow. Trish grinned, taking a look around at the crowd which was anxiously waiting to see what this new woman in black could do beside their foxy goddess. She wasn't about to disappoint them. What Linda had in grace, Trish had in sheer style, breaking into a series of hard, rhythmic steps. The crowd stood back in awe as Linda gracefully twirled and swayed like a ballerina next to Trish, stomping and moving like a break dancer.
