I thought this was decent. I really don't know why a lot of people don't seem to like this. I think it might be because it lacks color and looks sketchy, which to their credit, it does. Still, it's always interesting to see what went on behind the scenes for the creation of this character. Granted, you didn't create the character exactly. I just think there was a nice amount of effort put into everything.

It seems like he's actually making transition poses in these sketches. He seems to be directly going from one pose to another in the order he appears. I like the grooves in his knife. There are some lighter sketch marks that are nice too. It's not great, but nice to look at.
