As said before examples of the real thing help alot. Straight lines appear often in your work and gives the feeling that you only use the line tool. I also do not understand the yellow star... is that where the bomb hit? Also the most importent thing that I grade down on is no background, even simple backgrounds will do, but not just black. Backgrounds can make any piece of artwork better. Don't give up and keep drawing.

"study that stuff a little more"

You should try to study explosions a little more. This looks more like something that would come out of a firework. Theuse of colors isn't really good either, they're too bright. Maybe also, instead of making a cartoony cotton ball for smoke, try to use alpha colors to make it look like actual smoke.

Good job with this one man, really liked it. Though I liked how simplistic it was, very simple, but yet it was very vibrant, well done, and was in great quality. Excellent work
