This is quite impressive! That you have the focus on the head of the dragon, and that the neck begins to blur and daze out gives this a bit of depth and feeling of close and distant to this. That this was your first attempt experimenting with such measures and it came out quite well is wonderful! Implementation of shadows was used well, and while the background was simple, it was pleasing.

wow, very vibrant and pleasing to the eyes. i still see a lot of the line-edges, but i think it's awesome overall!
