I had a lot of fun painting this picture. It was not an ACTUAL reference from a game in terms of composition but different elements from mario have been thrown in.

This is for an upcoming commercial campaign which revolves around gaming (i cant say too much!!). I thought it would be awesome to have a mario level, but with a dark feel to it, but keeping the vibrance and strong colours mario games have :D

This is very beautiful. The grass is very nicely done I really like how it is mostly selected as a brighter color green. The piranha plant and the pipe are nicely done and the detail with the vines wrapping around it looks very well done. The colors for the piranha plant have been selected ever so nicely I really like the red you've chosen for that and the blocks look so much more simplistic and real looking which really is a big element to the point of this artwork. The background could use a little more detail like some Mario clouds or something though.

VERY NICE!! i love seeing dark fan art from very bright games like mario. it puts an artistic flavor on the game itself when you do that.
