Interesting idea, Adequate application

The pattern itself is a good wholesome design that i have yet to see, but there are some things that withdraw from the quality of this piece. The first thing that stands out to me is that some of the lines are misshapen and disproportionate to the width of other lines. By any chance did you incorporate the use of a T ruler for this piece? I feel that if you had plotted the composition out with greater accuracy [annotate how thick each colored line should be in your sketchbook] it would look so much more professional than it does now. I also see you are using colored pencils for this piece, and i feel it looks semi-rushed in the quality and consistency of color. From the looks of it it seems like you attempted to shade in the parallel direction of which the lines were plotted out, and you went too rough too soon with layering the wax onto the paper. You want to keep in mind that pencils are an abrasion medium rather than a staining, and remember to layer on thin before thick. "Thin before Thick" is a phrase used in most traditional mediums and should be kept in the back of your mind while applying the colored pencils. A trick you should incorporate next time you do something like this is not to apply in the direction of the lines, but gently layering the colors through making minuscule loops and circles. Drawing in small circles helps a more even distribution of the colors and covers the paper much more, leaving out most white space.

I would also like to inquire on how hard you actually applied the colored pencils, as from the image it appears that you have wax blooming occurring in your piece. I am not sure whether or not wax has actually bloomed or if its just the photograph, but i would gently dust off your piece, getting rid of any fogginess that may have precipitated after you put the piece down.
