Thanks!

great work spacefader - I love your use of colour and line. The animation is neat too !

spacefader responds:

Thanks loki, I appreciate it!

Excellent as always! Don't mind the rambling of 12yo kids who will never know of the infinite glory of old DOS games.

That last guys comments are just ridiculous, this is supposed to be in the style of the old games. this reminds me of the work that used to get done for the Amiga, reminds me of Psygnosis games, they had the best stuff.
i don't think its supposed to be a realistic animation, it wouldn't fit with the retro feel.

Love your work man, if you ever want to work on a game look me up. id love to collaborate!

spacefader responds:

Cheers man, yeah thats cool, good to see people want to help ;)

I find it impossible to follow the cloth animation. It's not smoothly animated (at least on the lower part of the robe).
Lacks a moving parallax background behind him.
The right hand and legs are not looking well when they're just slightly moving without any redrawing.
The upper part of the robe (where shoulders are) looks like it doesn't have shading, but there's this left hand under the robe which is supposed to make the robe more relief and drop a shadow.
And pope is flying to the left side of the screen, while the frontal part of his robe is leaning to the right, too? And the back of his robe is leaning to the left? Meaning he's flying downwards?
The part of the robe on the right hand is not leaning anywhere, it's just wiggling, so it makes it look like pope is flying right and left slightly. If pope was flying to the left, robe wouldn't even stay on his right hand, but would get blown off to the shoulder.

Should have used a reference!

spacefader responds:

Yeah it's a low frame rate animation, like 8 frames a second I think, so the animation isn't going to be smooth. Thanks for the advise but some of your recommendations dont take into account the stylistic economy of pixel art. But I appreciate your advise. Do you have some examples of your work I might be able to learn from?
