Missouri Bushwhacker

Share

Some more historical art, trying to figure out what direction I want to go when it comes to art style.

History: Bushwhackers is a common name used when refrencing to the Confederate irregular military forces who operated in Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, northern Georgia, Arkansas, northern Virginia, California and southern Alabama during the American civil war (1861-65). In most areas they operated as an adjunct to conventional military operations and waged a war on their own, conducting well-organized raids and ambushes against the federal military and Union sympathisers. In areas affected by bushwhacking, the actions were particularly inflammatory since they often amounted to fighting between neighbors, to settle personal accounts.

The painting: A posing irregular cavalier with a bright red battleshirt, regular infantry kepi, Colt percussion revolver and a single shot boot pistol.
