An American Scream

Share

Project for art called "Subvert a Masterpiece", for which we had to turn a famous painting into something of our own. A commentary on obesity in America? Possibly. Enjoy.

lol

that is funny. where did u get the picture though?

soccergilrzec responds:

Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean about the picture though. I drew it, and my teacher photographed it for me..

A reinvisioning of a classic.

Edvard Munch said he was walking in the sunset one day when suddenly a moment hit him when it was like all of nature was screaming. So I guess you were walking through a town in America one day when the travesty of it all hit you. Excellent concept and professionally executed.

Out of interest, is that a mirroring face embedded in the grain of the woodwork or am I seeing things that aren't there?

soccergilrzec responds:

Wow, thank you so much for the flattering review! I really appreciate the feedback.

It's funny, when I showed this to my art class, a few people asked the same thing. I wasn't trying to make an image, but it seems a lot of people can see a face in it...

I thought maybe I was subconsciously trying to make a reflection of the water on the wood, but it's possible my mind was telling my hand to do something I wasn't aware of, haha. Thanks again :)

Holy shit!

That's great man!!!

soccergilrzec responds:

Thank youu!!
