Laughing Jack was once a colorful, vibrant friend of a little boy named Isaac who came out from a wooden box given to the boy as a Christmas gift from an angel who noticed his loneliness.

Isaac and LJ would constantly play everyday after Isaac's studies. Their friendship was very strong and the two enjoyed each other's company.

But after one misshap involving LJ strangling a cat to death by accident, Isaac was forced to go to boarding school. Unable to bring his colorful clown friend with him.

Isaac promised to come back soon and said that they will be able to play once more as he returns back to London. LJ agrees and seals himself back in his box, patiently waiting for his best friend's return.

Thirteen years had passed and LJ's once vibrant colors have soon faded into a dull monochrome shade. Still trapped within his box, he then grew sad and alone.

After the death of Isaac's parents, Isaac returns to London and inherits the old house. LJ was happy to see his best friend again and eagerly waited for him to open the box. But Isaac dismissed him as some kind of fantasy, or imagination. This took a toll on LJ as he grew deeper into depression.

Isaac murders a young girl out of drunken rage and later on, uses the remains to make an armchair. This then, opened up a morbid opportunity to Isaac and thus, he becomes thirsty for blood and begins to kidnap and murder people in the attic of his old house. Now claiming himself as Isaac Lee Grossman.

As Isaac Grossman continued to murder people, LJ watched with fascination in his box. Thinking that Isaac was just playing a game with them (a rather twisted and sick game) and was eager to try it out himself.

Isaac later on, notices the box after it has fallen from a broken shelf and plays it. The sound of "Pop Goes the Weasel" goes off-tune and he throws it in a trashcan, claiming it to be broken. Just as he was about to leave, he hears a raspy voice call out to him from behind. He turns and comes face to face with his old friend, LJ, who has suddenly transformed into his nightmarish self.

He then begins to torture the poor Isaac by nailing him on his own torture bed. Smashing his teeth, cutting off his tongue, Stabbing and pulling out his eye and disembowling him.

He finishes off by filling Isaac's stomach with cockroaches that poured out of his mouth. LJ bids farewell to his old friend, saying that he'll continue to spread his friendship to all the lonely kids in the world and leaves him to die.

As Isaac slowly dies, his entire life flashed before his eyes. His last thought was when he woke up one Christmas day to see a wooden box lying on his bed, containing what would happen to be his best friend.
