This is a tough subject to paint, on or offline. Good job, there is a softness to the image that wouldn't look out of place with some slightly obscuring water spray across the scene

was this done on a canvas? if so ... with paint or colour pencils?
I like the waves if they had more curves on them they would be perfect. but the sails look abit too stiff and the lightning in the sky looks to bland.

Seriousle responds:

its done with a water color base paint and soft pastels on watercolor paper,
The sails i agree completely and when i did it on stream, i was actually saying the same thing, however i havnt done this style of ship befor so it was a learning experience,

the water however, i dont think curves would actually help it it would in my eyes hurt the piece because when you have the image as a whole, the ship is going up a single large wave with wind waves on the surface, if i where to add more curved it would destroy the feel of the huge wave that i've attempted to make the ship be 'climbing up' whilse being beaten on the side

and finally, the lightning i agree, however by the nature of soft pastels i dont physically own a titanium white thats soft enough to highlight that one, so i dont personally own the colors i need to appropriately highlight it to where im satisfied with it :D
