Cale is a Dungeons and Dragons character of mine. I've probably had the most fun playing him than any other.
Cale is a bit odd for a dwarf, never really fitting in, in his home society. He can't help that he doesn't have a deep voice, likes to be well spoken, use a dignified vocabulary, has good table manners, hates being dirty and like to be well groomed. So what if he doesn't want to grow a full beard. Isn't it a good thing to want to smell nice? His friends and family never could understand why he chose not to drink alcohol. And aren't swords just as good as axes or hammers, and aboveground as much as underground?
His father was very embarrassed by him so it was agreeable to all for him to leave and he departed on good terms. Cale eventually found his way to the elves. He didn't fit in there either, but he still loved the elves as he loves his own people the dwarves. He didn't tarry long, but it was still long enough to fall in love and marry a beautiful elf maiden, much to the dumbfounding shock of every elf and dwarf in the land.
