An assignment for my CG201 class. The assignments goal was to take a still frame from a piece of animation that you thoroughly enjoy and do a paint over of it, rendering it in higher detail. I chose Blue Sub. No. 6 for this piece, mostly due to the composition and framing of this still. The show is one that I do quite enjoy, mostly because of Mutio. I'm not a big fan of how this one came out. The original still was quite bleak and monotone, and I wanted to bring out more vibrant colours. However, I feel that my color play isn't the strongest in this piece and having my colors pre-chosen form the still hindered me more than helped. I forgot to time myself a couple times on this piece, but roughly 3:30-5 hours on this one. Oh well, I'll probably draw more of Mutio in my spare time, see if I cant flesh it out into something I am more satisfied with.
