I went to Germany and Austria last Summer on a school trip and had the awesome opportunity of seeing the USA vs. Germany World Cup game broadcast from the Olympic Stadium in Munich. Before going on the trip, we were told that we wouldn't see a lot of German flags everywhere like we do here because of the country's past. That really makes me sad because Germany has accomplished a lot in recent years, making a huge comeback economically and socially. They deserve to have their patriotism back again. So while I know the football-season-patriotism is only temporary, seeing all these flags and happy people supporting their country really made me happy.
