Oil on Canvas 30x40", 2009

A piece inspired by the song "Shipuu Jinrai" from the soundtrack to Oboro Muramasa (aka Muramasa: The Demon Blade). The song translates to Gale Winds, Lightning Swift, and I listened to it a lot while creating the painting.

The painting itself is a concept for a possible future project I've been thinking about, to be called the Koan Spirit Chronicles. It would revolve around a demon, a monk exorcist, and a common merchant in a world with Japanese motifs but not geographically or historically the same as Japan. Here you can see the demon and the monk battling amongst the rooftops in a torrential rainstorm. The project wont come to light for awhile (if at all) but I hope this piece can stand well on its own.

All criticism is greatly appreciated, if you have any advice subject or technique wise, please let me know! Enjoy!

Congratulations! \0/

I loved his work, has a great climate of intense battle. The duel on the cord is worthy of the great films of the fight. Congratulations!
