A relatively recent work, finished September 2009 (oil on canvas).

It's part of a series of paintings I call "Grandis Mare" supposedly 'The Grand Sea', though I wouldn't be surprised if someone disputed that (and admittedly, I wouldn't change the name even if it was wrong ^^). These paintings (of which, you may've guessed, there currently exists only 1 other that I may upload later) are made specifically to experiment with techniques of depicting the ocean and ships upon it.

I had a diagram of a ship (from an angle very much different from the one used) that was helpful in depicting more convincing sails, and the rest of the painting was done without a model. I ended up using the color indigo in abundance and I think it turned out alright.
