Comic Art Style

Share

This was made entirely in Paint.NET

Having to be forced to play The Wolf Among Us 3 times,
The art style, to me. Is still eye-catching.
Tellale did a wonderful job at making the game look like a comic.
Which, honestly, came close, but not perfect.

I played the game in 3 save files:
Complete Douche
Paragon
And of course, My actual choices.

After playing the game 3 times, as I mentioned.
I got used to the technique they used to make it look like a comic.

Basically:
1.Color your character COMPLETE black (unless the character is outside during day)
2.Make 2 light sources
3.Make a slightly dark light (This light has shadows,)
4.Add a brighter and smaller version of the light (this one has no shadows) on top of the darker one.
5.Deside which one should be at the top (street light > moon) (Sun > sky)
6.Make the eyes outside the shading, and vala!

Use a hue slider, if you aren't comfortable with the colors you used :)

Great Job on the lighting. I like how it has a very solid coloring, using Paint.NET really let it have a crisp look to it. I think the color mix is the best in it's overall quality. I just love how the tones contrast. On the night with neon The pure white makes the eyes pop out too much. That high level of contrast might be a useful thing to apply to other things but here it doesn't add much. Overall it's a really good lighting study.

Thank you.
I'm very used to Paint.NET and it having no antialiasing.
It gives my work a crispy look to it.
The Night one, I did a little bit of experimenting, I perfected it once, but I didn't save the file.
And thanks for not commenting about the daylight one..
